Volunteer Team Leader

Role title: Volunteer Team Leader
Reporting to: CoExistence Volunteer Manager and Senior Event Manager
Direct Reports N/A
Salary: £10.85 per hour
Hours: 12 hour days.

5 day working weeks, regular weekend work expected.

Training days 10-11 June; live days 14 June-24 July.

Location: Outside in Green Park, St James’s Park and Berkeley Square (Central London)

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Talking to interested visitors and answering their questions about the exhibition
  • Documenting interested visitors to allow for follow up about elephant sales and partnership opportunities
  • Engaging with the public to ensure the exhibition is enjoyed in a safe and respectful manner
  • Liaising with the security team regarding any threats or concerns to the exhibition (including reinforcement of COVID social distancing regulations)
  • Support volunteers and assess their progress and satisfaction,
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Promote a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising volunteer efforts and assisting volunteers with their duties
  • Manage communication between volunteers and Elephant Family
  • Promotes the charity and volunteer efforts and their accomplishments
  • Write regular reports and updates
  • Follow correct procedures supervising volunteers
  • Looking after the volunteers for the duration of their rotation
  • Providing induction and local orientation to every new volunteer
  • Work within volunteer guidelines, as set out by British Asian Trust
  • Support with any other duties as required

 

Skills and experience:

  • Highly enthusiastic who loves working with people
  • Experience of working with volunteers or having been a volunteer
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written
  • An excellent communicator with people of all ages and cultures
  • Physically fit
  • Able to remain calm and efficient under pressure
  • Team player and motivator
  • Experience of supervising other people, even if informaly
  • Flexible and able to take direction and accept feedback
